A spokesman for William Hill, which has a bookmakers in Wide Bargate, said: “We can confirm that an application has been made. Should it be successful, we would aim for the premises to be open around June time. These applications are often the result of extensive market research and a shop refurb generally costs on average around £250,000 – so certainly not a decision that is taken lightly. The opening of a new premises would result in the creation of five new jobs.”
