Boston and Skegness MP Richard Tice stands by Nigel Farage following resignation announcement and by-election plans

The MP for Boston and Skegness Richard Tice has voiced his support for Nigel Farage, after the Reform UK leader announced he was resigning from Parliament to contest a ‘people versus the establishment by-election’.

Mr Farage – who won the Clacton seat in 2024, with a majority of about 8,400 – made the announcement today (Tuesday, July 7).

The former Member of the European Parliament has come under pressure following a Sunday Times report about unregistered donations of cash and support.

But Mr Farage insists he has done nothing wrong and has vowed to fight in the upcoming poll, dubbing it a ‘people versus the establishment by-election’.

Mr Tice, deputy leader of Reform UK, said: “Nigel and all of us at Reform are sick of the lies, abuse and criminality from the establishment against us.

“Nigel is rightly calling it out and asking the good folk of Clacton to reinforce their support for him.”

In recent days, the Reform leader has faced calls for an investigation into his financial affairs after revelations in the national media about payments from a long-term friend and ally George Cottrell.
