Lincolnshire County Council will mark the 15th anniversary of its CallConnect bus service tomorrow (Saturday, March 19).

The nationally-acclaimed rural bus service has carried more than 2.5 million passengers since its launch at Horncastle in 2001 and has seen annual passenger figures rise to 325,000 in 2015. It is set to expand again this year through its partnership working with North Lincolnshire Council.

Coun Richard Davies, executive member for highways and transportation said: “We are pleased to mark CallConnect’s 15th anniversary as it highlights the ongoing success of an efficient and popular rural bus network throughout Lincolnshire.

“CallConnect provides a much-valued service to over 600 communities in Lincolnshire and our aim is to keep making a difference to more people’s lives every year. We continue to pursue partnership working with neighbouring authorities and are pleased to be working with transport officers at North Lincolnshire Council to deliver three additional CallConnect services to their residents. This in turn helps support our own Lincolnshire CallConnect network”.

To mark the 15th birthday of the service, passengers travelling on pre-booked CallConnect services this Saturday or Monday, will be entered into a prize draw to win free travel with the service and a very special CallConnect birthday cake.

Throughout this year, there are plans for further developments to the service including: a continued refreshing of vehicles to improve the CallConnect fleet; further improvements to the online booking service and partnership working with other public sector transport providers.
