Chris Pain kicked out of UKIP following national party hearing

Chris Pain had been due to stand in the Boston and Skegness constituency for UKIP in 2015 but it is understood that he now finds himself thrown out for conduct that ‘damages the interests of the party’.

Coun Pain was last week suspended amid a dispute with party chairman Steve Crowther. He was then ousted by a majority of UKIP members on the county council and formed a breakaway group with five other members under the banner of UKIP Lincolnshire.

It is not yet known how today’s news affects the breakaway group.

The news comes after police last week dropped their investigation into allegations that Coun Pain made ‘racist’ posts on Facebook.

A source close to the party suggested Coun Pain may want to challenge today’s decision by way of appeal.

A party spokesman said: “It’s nothing to do with his disagreement with Mr Crowther.

“There’s no doubt that the whole series of things that have gone on over the past six months cannot have endeared him to the party but they are not the reason either.

“He has made the atmosphere really difficult but there’s a specific thing that he did that was in clear breach of our own rules and that was the reason.”
