Council moves to clear up EU voting confusion in North Kesteven

Election co-ordinators are taking steps to clear up recent confusion over registering to vote in the EU referendum.

A North Kesteven District Council spokesman said: “Following a recent ‘rumour’ there seems to be some confusion around registering to vote for the EU Referendum.”

In a move to clarify the issue clarify the issue, she said the council, as local co-ordinators of elections, had received numerous calls regarding electoral registration for the EU Referendum.

She said in the past few days residents had called concerned that they have to re-register to vote in order to have a vote on June 23 – this is not the case.

She said: “If you are already registered to vote you do not need to do anything other than turn up at your local polling station on June 23 and make your vote count. Polling Stations across the district will be open from 7am to 10pm. “Alternatively you will also be able to opt to vote by post.

“If you are not registered to vote then you must do so before midnight on June 7. You can do this via www.gov.uk/register-to-vote .”
