Building excellence in Sleaford and North Kesteven makes regional awards shortlist

Sleaford and North Kesteven as a whole is to be represented at a regional awards scheme for the construction industry.

Seven schemes and two construction professionals from the district are in the running for an honour at the Local Authority Building Control East Midlands Building Excellence Awards.

To be eligible for an award, building control must have been provided by a local authority team. The eight finalists were all put forward by the building control unit at North Kesteven District Council and put forward for an award by the authority.

They include Phase 4, in Newfield Road, Sleaford, in the Best Social or Affordable New Housing Development category, and Simon Challenor, of the Dorrington-based Challenor Building Services, as a potential Best Local Builder or Traditional Craftsman.

The other seven are:

* For Best Extension or Alteration to an Existing Dwelling: Skellingthorpe Hall, Lincoln

* For Best Change of Use of an Existing Building: Witham Prospects School, Old Harbour Farm, Norton Disney

* For Best Individual New Home: Passive House, School Lane, North Scarle

* For Best High Volume New Housing Development: Meadow Close, Waddington

* For Best Public Service or Educational Building: Witham Prospects School, Old Harbour Farm, Norton Disney

* For Best Large Commercial Project: Network 46, Swinderby

* For LABC construction professional of the year: Malcolm Cousins, Lindum Group

Amid the coronavirus, the awards are to be held digitally on August 27.
