Enforcement of rules to restart in Caistor car park

Restrictions will be reintroduced at a Caistor car park as shops reopen and schools begin to welcome students back.

That was one of the decisions made as Caistor Town Council held its first full meeting since lockdown on the Zoom virtual platform.

During the lockdown it had been noted some vehicles were parking for more than the permitted four hours,
between 8am and 4pm.

Town clerk Jim Hanrahan said: “No enforcement has been undertaken during lockdown however, the car park has on average been less than 25% full and there has been no issue of overstayers preventing other users from finding a space.”

Looking to the future, and with the town already becoming busier, councillors agreed enforcement should recommence in July.

The restrictions will apply between 8am and 4pm, with commercial vehicles not
allowed to park on the site at any time.

Parking at the Mill Lane site will be unavailable for a time too, as work is scheduled to demolish the former
council depot.

Plans for the site are progressing, however the planning application for development of the site will not be submitted until the demolition is complete.

The project is being overseen by Caistor and District Development Trust.

Work is also going on behind the scenes on the trust’s other project, 2 to 4 Market Place in the town.
