More than £170,000 awarded to community projects through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Boston Partnership Fund

More than £125,000 has been awarded to parish councils, village halls, sports clubs and community initiatives across Boston Borough, alongside a major investment of £45,000 in Central Park through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
Funding for community initiatives from the Lincolnshire Community Foundation run GRASSroots scheme, which is funded by Boston Borough Council through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Rural England Prosperity Fund and Boston Partnership Fund, has already supported hundreds of projects across South and East Lincolnshire since it began in 2023.
In this, final round of funding for the year, 11 projects have been supported with grants, with a total of £125,528.70 being distributed among:
Boston Men's Shed - Equipment and materials to support the extension of facility which supports local men's mental health.
Haven Domestic Abuse Service - New essential equipment for use in refuges, dispersed houses and community hubs.
Freiston L&L Cricket Club - Bringing the Freiston Cricket Pavilion back into use, inclusive of a new roof, re-wiring and new windows and doors throughout.
107 Endeavour FM - Modernisation and expansion of the community broadcasting facilities at the station's base, plus support for a project to get more young people into radio.
The Boston Orchestra - Materials and equipment to support additional concerts and the expansion of the orchestra which aims to encourage more residents to join.
Boston Tennis Club - New flooring and tables throughout the club to compliment renovations which have already been completed through grant funding.
The Froglife Trust - Supporting the creation of two new frog-friendly community ponds, a wildlife garden and wildflower meadow. This is alongside support for six wildlife gardening workshops and three creative arts wildlife themed sessions at schools. This matches a substantial investment made by the National Lottery Heritage Fund in the project.
The Community Growers CIC - A new community treehouse for wellbeing sessions, mental health support and to encourage more people to get involved in community growing.
Centrepoint Outreach - New audiovisual equipment to support the ongoing fit out of the centre.
Toot Lane Allotments - Installation of new composting toilet on site.
Brothertoft Village Hall - New roof for the village hall.
Alongside this, the council is making a significant investment of £45,000 in Boston's Central Park in response to business and resident feedback.
This includes improved wheelchair accessible access to the park, native planting which encourages a greater range and diversity of wildlife and improved signage and interpretation throughout the park.
The aim is to create a more attractive, useable space that will boost footfall to local businesses through its attractiveness.
Altogether, the total investment the council is making through UKSPF, REPF and BPF in this November round is £170,528.70.
Councillor Sandeep Ghosh, Portfolio Holder for Finance and political lead for the schemes, said: "We are truly pleased to extend our support to such a diverse and inspiring range of initiatives through the LCF GRASSroots scheme and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
"This latest round of funding continues to demonstrate our unwavering commitment to empowering communities, enhancing local opportunities and driving meaningful change across Boston Borough.
"From projects that focus on improving men's mental health and wellbeing, to innovative programmes that provide young people with hands-on learning experiences in the creative industries, and a major investment in Central Park, the very heart of our town centre, this funding exemplifies how strategic investment can enrich lives, strengthen communities, and stimulate local economic growth.
"Boston Borough Council remains dedicated to working in close partnership with community groups, charities, and local businesses to ensure our borough continues to thrive.
"Together, we are building a more inclusive, resilient, and vibrant Boston, a place where residents and visitors alike can live, work, and enjoy a high quality of life, now and for generations to come."
