NK Community Champion Award nominations deadline extended due to coronavirus

For the past ten years, in partnership with community-minded businesses including the Sleaford Standard, North Kesteven District Council has sought to celebrate, award and applaud people’s selfless, tireless and voluntary contributions which make a positive difference to lives across North Kesteven.
Now, more than ever we are looking to others for support and guidance, and within North Kesteven many individuals, groups and businesses have been making a massive difference in their communities, neighbourhoods and to individual’s lives through their spirited and voluntary responses to the current situation.

The awards are a chance to say thank you, and to celebrate the hundreds of people who volunteer their time to help others across the district – whether that

is in light of Covid-19 or prior to it – we want to hear from you by Friday July 31.
If there is someone in your local area who goes above and beyond to support their neighbours, community, environment, arts, sport or wellbeing nominate them today. We would hate to miss the opportunity to champion them.
The awards recognise those unsung heroes and they will be presented in the autumn in one way or another bearing in mind the ongoing situation.

Council Leader, Coun Richard Wright said: “We have all faced incredibly difficult times over the last few months, but we have also seen how communities have come together to support each other through this crisis.
“Year-on-year we run these awards as a thank you to all those unsung heroes across the district who day in, day out, all year round help our communities to
flourish, and this year, it is just as important to celebrate those endeavours.
“I encourage everyone to think about the people in their communities who go above and beyond, and have helped you or your community in some way, and to nominate them in recognition of their kindness, thoughtfulness and community-pirited generosity.”

The awards would not be possible without the support of the businesses who are just as keen as NKDC to ensure the huge amount of endeavours which go on within the District are celebrated, applauded and awarded.
You can nominate anyone living, working and carrying out their voluntary community endeavours within North Kesteven across the ten categories at www.nkawards.org
