North Kesteven District Council says it is’well placed’ to respond to Tier 4 challenges

North Kesteven District Council has outlined its role in helping the public after the whole of Lincolnshire, most of the East Midlands and many more parts of the UK moved into the highest Tier 4 restrictions for coronavirus this morning (Thursday).

In short, the new guidance requires us to ‘Stay at Home’ more and mix much less; doing everything possible to protect ourselves, loved ones, our communities and capacity within the NHS.

In a statement, NKDC said: “Given the work of the past few months, the council is well-placed - through our own initiative and in partnership across the Lincolnshire Resilience Forum - to respond to the challenge that this change will bring, and we will inevitably be looking to cascade new support mechanisms for affected businesses and our most clinically vulnerable residents.”

The main differences between Tier 3 and 4 are these:

Household mixing – none indoors other than support bubbles; outdoors maximum of two people in public spaces

Hospitality closed – aside from take-away, drive-thru and home delivery

Shops – essential shops remain open; non-essential closed other than click-and-collect and delivery

Personal care – hairdressers, barbers, beauticians etc closed

Indoor leisure – gyms, pools etc closed

Indoor entertainment – closed; outdoor attractions may remain open

Work – from home unless unable to do so

Funerals – continue for up to 30 guests

Weddings - reduced to 6 guests and only in exceptional circumstances

Places of worship – open for private prayer and communal worship, but no interaction beyond household group or bubble.
