While working hard to maintain levels of service delivery, it says fresh assessments being taken on a daily basis to ensure the welfare of residents, staff and councillors remains paramount.

The council is open and most services continue to operate fully, where possible, with extra measures in place to limit to potential for transmission of the virus, it says.

Whilst its Sleaford reception remains open, where possible they encourage residents to find alternative methods of contacting them as face-to-face contact and meetings are limited to those which are essential.

○ You can continue to access council services by calling 01529 414155 or search www.n-kesteven.gov.uk for the information you need.

○ The Info-Links office at North Hykeham is closed, and so too are heritage sites at Cogglesford Watermill, Navigation House and Cranwell Aviation Heritage Museum, with all scheduled activities at these locations and at Mrs Smith’s Cottage cancelled. The Digital Hubs are suspended.

○ Meetings of the council and its sub-committees are suspended with activity underway to identify ways in which democratic decisions can continue to be made.

○ Officers who ordinarily meet on a face-to-face basis – for housing, planning or benefits enquiries for example – will continue to assist customers. But these meetings will only take place face-to-face where essential.

Leader Coun Richard Wright said: “Our number one priority is the continuation of our functions which we know our residents and businesses rely on and value. But, in light of evolving Government advice and direction, and in view of the dynamic nature of the virus, in some cases we have no choice but to scale back and change what we are able to do in the interests of public health.”

He said: “Principally, we are seeking to ensure we do all that we can to delay the spread of the virus, protect vulnerable individuals as much as possible, and ensure the continuation of critical services.

“And on a personal note I would like to applaud those within our communities who are showing their consideration and kindness for others, by minimising exposure to the most vulnerable whilst also stepping up to think of those who are at risk and most need their support for shopping or errands to ensure they can stay out of harm’s way.”
