The plans, which were submitted in April but only validated this month, have been put forward by local firm of architects Martin Osborne Design Services of Holdingham.

Mr Osborne is applying to convert and divide the old fire station on Church Lane in the town into three separate office units.

The old station, built in 1968, was vacated two years ago when construction on the new, shared fire and ambulance station was completed on East Road.

It is currently listed as ‘under offer’ with an asking price of £185,000 by Brown and Co estate agents of Grantham.

In his application documents Mr Osborne calculates that his existing six employees would increase to nine.

The premises would be split into three offices. His office would take up the crew offices and one of the vehicle bays. It would be a main office area, manager’s office, meeting room and reception, with toilets and kitchen made out of the existing male and female toilets. Glazed double doors would replace each vehicle bay door with composite grey cladding above. The rest room making up another office unit and the other applicance parking bays would make up a third unit, both with their own kitchen and toilets.

The existing 11 parking spaces on the surrounding site would increase to 14 with the removal of the training tower.

Deadline for comments on the plans, preferably via the website is May 28.
