Town and District councillor Stephen Bunney says the cold and wet weather has caused ‘a lot of’ damage to the roads.

Pot holes and collapsed drains can be seen in and around Market Rasen, something the proactive councillor says needs action.

He said: “The surfaces are very dangerous - causing damage to vehicles, cyclists losing balance, etc.

“This is not good enough.

Lincolnshire County Council need to get their contractors to repair them as soon as possible.”

To help the county’s highways team identify the areas needing attention, Coun Bunney is encouraging people to use the ‘FixMyStreet’ app on their smartphone, which allows you to report the problem there and then.

The app uses the phone’s location/gps and camera functions to pinpoint the exact location of the problem and allows you to attach the photographic evidence by following the instructions to describe the problem

The information is sent automatically to the council and FixMyStreet will send you an email to confirm details and acceptance

If you are unable to log the issue through a smartphone, there is also a website - fixmystreet.com - where you can follow the instructions to locate the area of concern on a map and upload an image if you have one.

Coun Bunney said: “I would urge people to use the phone app if they are able to, as this gives the most precise location. If you can’t use the app or website, you can report problems to the county council direct.

“Alternatively, if it helps, I will do this on your behalf if you let me know where the problem is; call me on 07506 188570.”

Coun Bunney added; “We need to keep on top of where things need action as time goes on.

“I know we should not have to do this, but it appears that it is the only way the contractors learn what needs doing.
