WLDC Leader says “Stay hopeful but stay disciplined”

He said: “I completely understand that residents will be extremely downhearted to be going into the New Year, with yet more restrictions being introduced into West Lindsey.

“It has felt at times like these restrictions have lasted a lifetime, and I understand completely the frustrations and anxieties of those who wish nothing more than to enter a New Year a-fresh, but sadly, at this time, we are not ready as a district, a county, or a country, to leave these restrictions behind us.

“Due to the rising levels of virus across the country, and the threat from the highly infectious new variant reported widely in the media of late – we must not only continue our restrictions, but tighten up our defences further.

“Sadly, this does mean that the highest levels of restrictions will be upon us going into the New Year and into

January.

“I urge residents to play their part. Stay hopeful but stay disciplined – continue to wash your hands, make space and wear a mask – and make sure you follow the latest restrictions while the vaccination campaign gets really underway.

“Only by playing our part to protect each other – locally, regionally and nationally – can we fight back against this virus long enough until the vaccine arrives and brings us back to the world we all miss once again.”
