By election result for Heckington parish council and candidates named for Sleaford Town Council poll

A by-election was held yesterday (Thursday) to fill the seat vacated by the resignation of Coun Richard Higgs, the former chairman.

The election was won by Midge (Margaret Linda) Collins (Independent) with 325 votes.

Her opponent, Mary Wilkinson (unalligned) polled 182 votes.

The turn out was 19.6 per cent and five ballot papers were declared invalid/spoiled.

There will also now be a by-election contest for a seat on the Mareham Ward of Sleaford Town Council after the resignation of Coun Mark Suffield.

The contest will take place on February 11 and will be between:

Michael Christopher Flint, (Lincolnshire Independents) of The Folly, Eastgate, Sleaford and Richard James Willis, (Conservative) of Cuthbert Close, Quarrington.
