Emergency plan on agenda at meeting

Steve Eason-Harris, Lincolnshire County Council’s Emergency Planning Officer, presented a talk aimed at helping councillors and the public understand what communities need to do to cope with an emergency incident.

As a result of the talk, the Town Council will be looking at a number of issues raised in order to provide help and assistance.

Mr Eason-Harris was supported by Hayley Harrison, Emergency Planning Officer for ELDC, and Melanie Byrne, Flood Resilience Officer at the Environment Agency.

A second presentation was equally interesting and enlightening, with the topic being the responsibilities and services provided by St Barnabas Hospice.

The talk was delivered by Ruth O’Mellia who revealed the Hospice visits people at home and provides help for many life limiting conditions, not just cancer related illnesses.

Ms O’Mellia also provided information about how the organisation utilises the money it receives, including the support given each year through Horncastle’s Tree of Light.

Mayor Councillor Angela Birchall spoke about the work undertaken by the council and outlined some of the functions she has attended.

Reports were also received from PCSO Nigel Wass, County Councillor Bill Aron and East Lindsey District councillors.

Copies of the Town Council’s annual report were made available. The report provides details about the work of the council and a financial statement for the year ending 31 March 2016.
