Independent examiners have approved the Caistor and Nettleham Neighbourhood Plans and these will now be subject to a community referendum on January 28.

These are the district’s first Neighbourhood Plans to have a community referendum.

Both plans have been created over the past three years by local residents from Caistor and Nettleham, with support from West Lindsey District Council.

Neighbourhood Plans are designed to give people a greater say in future planning decisions for their areas.

WLDC planning committee chairman Coun Stuart Curtis said: “Both plans have been independently assessed and their content approved.

“Now everyone of voting age who lives in the designated Neighbourhood Plan areas will have the chance to have a say on the proposals at referendums so please make your vote count.

“If the Neighbourhood Plans are ‘made’ by the council, they will influence planning decisions the council makes about any future development proposals in the Caistor and Nettleham areas.”

Residents registered on the electoral roll will receive a ballot paper or postal voting paper.

The referendums will take place within the parishes of Caistor and Nettleham on Thursday, January
28.
