New homesget go-aheadin Horncastle

The new homes will be built on a site off Thimbleby Hill, close to the Crowders site for a proposed development of 500 dwellings .

People living in the area had raised a number of issues about the bungalows - including flooding and an increase in traffic on an already busy main road (A158)

Residents were backed by town councillors.

Coun Brian Burbidge, chairman of the town council’s planning committee, spoke at the ELDC meeting.

He said the council was worried about traffic entering and leaving the development at an ‘already dangerous crossroads.’

He also mentioned the Crowders development - and the impact of the new homes on Horncastle’s infrastructure, including health and education services.

However, the planning committee voted to back the proposal, saying there was a shortage of bungalows throughout the East Lindsey area.

Natalie Dear, who represented developers Allison Homes, told the meeting there was a need for one and two bedroom properties and the development would fulfil local requirements.

Planning committee members noted there was no objection from Highways Officers at the County Council.

They did note that Anglian Water were unhappy with the proposed drainage system.

However, Anglian Water said they will upgrade the town’s drainage. The planning committee stipulated the development could not start - until an agreement had been reached with Anglian Water.
