Plans for extension to town
The Drove Landowners Partnership, of four major and one small land owners submitted a detailed application for the major development to the west of Sleaford off The Drove last Tuesday.
The scheme has been put forward in line with the vision of the Local Plan for Central Lincolnshire to meet housing demand.
It is envisaged the 189.5 acre site would see the construction of 1,400 new homes including a care home, two form entry primary school, 700 space secondary education facility, light industrial and office land, pub restaurant, 40-bed hotel, GP surgery, six retail units and a community centre. There would be public open space and outdoor sports facilities.
Main access would be from a new roundabout off the A15, although, according to Mike Shield, of agents Shield Estates, the first phase of 200 homes would be accessed off St Denys’ Avenue and Covell Road. Drove Lane would mainly be used by pedestrians, cyclists and buses. The owners would sell the land to developers and it is hoped by 2017, building work would begin, as part of a 10-year programme.
