Police and Crime Commissioner’s office open to groups in south Lincolnshire

Voluntary and community groups committed to stopping crime can still apply for funding from a cash pot set up by Lincolnshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner.

The Community and Volunter Fund, launched by Commissioner Alan Hardwick last year to help projects “delivering positive change” to communities has so far given out grants worth just over £14,600.

Groups to be funded include Swineshead Parish Council for a £91,000 regeneration of its village park and Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce for Shopwatch and CCTV schemes in Spalding and Holbeach.

But Bourne and the Deepings have been noticeably absent from the list of successful grant applications so far and a spokesman for the Commissioner said: “Communities themselves have a role to play in preventing crime and making the places where we live and work safe.

“The voluntary and community sector, communities and individuals can all be involved in delivering positive change that will benefit us all.

“The Commissioner also believes that some of the most important work to make a difference on the ground to people’s lives can be done by volunteers and local people.”
