Sir Edward’s comments attracted howls of
protests and he quickly replied: “Well, in private.

“Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.”

The Rasen MP was speaking in defence of Mr Trump’s state visit, saying the President’s comments were ‘not really a reason to withdraw the invitation.’

He also claimed that accusing Mr Trump of misogyny was ‘overstating it’.

Sir Edward has aired his support of Mr Trump’s s proposed visit to the UK in an interview with the Rasen Mail.

Speaking at his visit to East Barkwith Post Office last Friday, Sir Edward said: “If we’ve had the President of China, head of a dictatorship, speaking to Parliament, why shouldn’t we have the leader of the free world?”
