School to host an EU '˜in' or '˜out' debate

Kesteven and Sleaford High School is to host a live EU referendum debate.

The event in the school hall on Tuesday at 6pm is being compered by outgoing deputy head girl, Katie Flaherty.

Guest speakers will be Dr Carol Weaver, part time lecturer in international relations, European politics and international security at De Montfort University and former MEP Derek Clark, a retired science teacher and member of UKIP MEP Margot Parker’s team.

Katie will pose a series of ‘Question Time’ style questions to get the debate rolling, with parents, staff and students from across the Robert Carre Academy Trust invited to submit questions to be asked.

Teacher and organiser Lee Rooke, said: “We hope it will be a good debate between a ‘leave’ and a ‘remain’ campaigner.”

He explained: “In the run up to the EU Referendum on June 23 we are working with students to understand the democratic process of the referendum.
