Sir Ed probes PM over Europe

Market Rasen and Caistor MP Sir Edward Leigh has questioned Prime Minister David Cameron about his views on migration.

Speaking to Mr Cameron in the House of Commons on February 22, the Conservative MP said: “Why does the Prime Minister bang on about East European migration?

“The Poles in particular have a wonderful record of coming here, not for benefits, but to work hard and integrate.

“The much greater problem is the millions poring into Europe from North Africa and the Middle East.

“What proportion of these will come here once they get their German passports if we remain in the EU? Won’t the Channel be as useful as a trifling stream in Macedonia?”

Sir Edward’s comments come after he announced he would be voting in favour of Britain leaving the EU in this summer’s referendum.
