Sleaford students were challenged by the Sleaford Regeneration Group to 'Design a town centre fit for 2030' as part of the Sleaford Town Visioning Project.

Groups in Year 9 at Carre’s Grammar School and Year 7 at Kesteven and Sleaford High School set to work redesigning the town centre based on population growth, improving traffic management and how to increase the amount of money spent within Sleaford.

Two winning teams were chosen. At Carre’s the winners were Jack Turner, Max Moor and Lucas Hingley. Their project focussed on introducing a heritage route similar to the Barons of Lincoln last summer. They also wanted to introduce a shopping village to the town centre, redevelop the train station and areas for restaurants.

The winners at the High School were Lucy Allan, Navdeep Atwal, Tamzen Brenton, Alice Booth and Alicia Coldron. Their project included proposals to attract well-known brands and creation of an ‘all weather’ shopping experience.

Both groups were presented with high street vouchers worth £50 and their projects may feed into the future vision for Sleaford. The winners are pictured with Alan Gray, Economic Development Manager for NKDC, Deborah Collett from the High School (left) and Emily Chaddock from Carre’s (right).
