Grant White, enterprise and community services manager for West Lindsey District Council, addressed councillors at this month’s meeting, where he gave details of a five-camera plan.

Two of the cameras would focus on the town’s market place area, with the other three cameras at Caistor Sports and Social Club.

Mr White went on to explain the council could opt to buy the cameras or West Lindsey would pay for the installation and the town council would then sign up for a four-year monitoring deal, which would cost £1,000 per camera, per year.

The cameras would be monitored, via a secure wireless internet connection to a control room at Gainsborough.

The proposed system would also allow for further expansion to other parts of the town.

The town council has already set aside £5,000 in next year’s budget for the cameras and the proposal will be an agenda item at next month’s meeting.
