UPDATED: Rain threatens to ruin Canadian Lancaster Bomber entrance to RAF Coningsby
War veteran Harry Parkins is just one of the hundreds of people who have turned out at RAF Coningsby today, Friday August 8, to await the historic arrival of the Canadian Lancaster Bomber.
Mr Parkins flew 30 missions as a flight engineer in Lancaster Bombers out of East Kirkby in the Second World War and now resides in Lincoln.
But the large crowds may be disappointed.
Due to the heavy rain in the area the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Lancaster Bomber will not fly today. Neither will the spitfires, due to act as a guard of honour as the Canadian Bomber flew into Lincolnshire. There are also doubts whether the Red Arrows will fly.

Hide AdThe Canadian Lancaster was due to arrive at 1.30pm, but is running at least an hour late due to the poor weather.
In Coningsby itself, the village centre has been decked in Canadian flags as a welcome.
