In recognition of having one of the lowest council tax levels in the country, the Government is allowing South Kesteven District Council (SKDC), and 50 other councils, to increase its council tax by £5 for a band D property for 2016/17.

This 3.58 per cent increase for South Kesteven would generate an extra £227,000 per year.

Coun Terl Bryant, portfolio holder for strategic resources, said: “Over the last few years SKDC has successfully managed to freeze council tax, but since 2010, the amount we receive from central government has drastically reduced by more than £4million and by 2020, we are not expecting to receive anything.”

SKDC is inviting all stakeholders to share their views online at https://www.
