Professional driver arrested for drink driving after going out to celebrate new job

Jura Cepuliene, 58, of Woodville Road, Boston admitted driving with excess alcohol when she appeared at Boston Magistrates Court.

Prosecuting, Marie Stace said Mrs Cepuliene was seen driving her Citroen Picasso at 11.35am on February 18 in Carlton Road, and was stopped by police after a member of the public had reported her as possibly being 'in drink'.

She said she gave a positive breath test reading of 118 microgrammes of alcohol, more than three times the legal limit of 35.

Mitigating, Philippa Chatterton said Mrs Cepuliene, a professional driver for 20 years and who had driven all over the world, 'normally wouldn't drink alcohol at all', but that on this occasion she had been out celebrating a new job.

“She was not used to alcohol and clearly drank more than she should,” she said, adding that she would lose her employment.

The magistrates ordered her to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work for the community and undergo five days of rehabilitation.

Mrs Cepuliene was also banned from driving for 28 months but was offered the drink drivers' rehabilitation course which will reduce the period of the ban by 28 weeks.

She was also ordered to pay £170 in costs and charges.
