Pub-goers bald-ly go in aid of cancer charity

REGULARS at a popular Worksop pub have shaved their heads in support of a friend’s battle with cancer.

No less than 10 men and one woman - team leader Natasha Edwards - sacrificed their lovely locks to raise nearly £2,000 for charity at the Mill House pub on Sunday.

Manageress of the Newcastle Avenue pub Wendy Pettinger’s husband was diagnosed with lung, brain and bone cancer just six weeks ago.

“I cannot put it into words the level of support we’ve had,” she said. “It’s wonderful. They’re all amazing people.”

“Mick was amazed that so many people were there and how many were willing to have their heads shaved.”

The money raised will be split between Western Park, where he has been receiving radiotherapy, and cancer research.

“We just want to thank everyone who made the effort to come down and take part,” added Wendy.

The pub will be holding another charity fundraiser on 26th August when they turn the car park into a beach party with a BBQ, paddling pool and much more.
