Quilters celebrate 21st year with show

The Pearoom Quilters held the event at Great Hale Village Hall last weekend.

The group normally holds a show every five years and another was set for 2015. However, due to the group’s involvement with a national event at Spalding last year, the show was pushed back to 2016 for a 21st year celebration.

Chairman Mary Johnson hailed the event as a success, saying more than 200 people attended.

“I would like to thank everyone for coming because the atmosphere was so bright and ebullient.”

Mary also gave thanks for the partners of members who helped set up the show.

The group has about 50 members, of wide-ranging age and varying experience, who travel from as far as Metheringham, Boston, and Grantham to attend.

Mary said she felt part of the group’s success was down to the fact that it meets during evenings, a rarity in the area, but also because of the relaxed mood at its meetings.

“There’s no pressure,” she said.
