Ryan Brockmer Johnson, 21, of Jubilee Crescent in Louth but currently stationed in Wales, admitted driving with excess alcohol when he appeared at Skegness Magistrates’ Court on January 19.

Daniel Pietryka, prosecuting, said police stopped him in his Vauxhall Astra in Northolme Road at 7.55pm on December 31 and he gave a positive breath test.

At the police station he gave a reading of 43 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

Johnson told the magistrates it had been a ‘stupid decision’ to drive.

“There were no taxis and I should have waited,” he said.

Johnson was banned from driving for 12 months but was offered the drink drivers’ rehabilitation course which will reduce the period of disqualification by three months.

He was also fined £335 and ordered to pay £118 in costs and charges.
