Raising '˜buckets' of cash for good cause

Members of the 1st Ancaster Scouts and Cubs grabbed buckets and sponges and set about washing cars at Boundary Mill, in Grantham, last weekend.

The fundraiser was held by the South Lincolnshire branch of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Boundary Mill’s chosen charity of the year. Scouts and Cubs lent their support to the branch as their former leader Helen Bond, who died in December, 2014, had cystic fibrosis. Helen was also secretary to the branch.

Scout leader Maz Stringer said: “Our young people had a fantastic time giving something back to the shoppers at Boundary Mills. It’s lovely that we have been able to remember Helen, help others with the condition, and have fun doing it.” In all, some £205 was raised.

Sarah Tucker, who runs the South Lincolnshire branch of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, said: “We are thrilled to have had their support, and the money raised will go towards helping people like Helen suffering from cystic fibrosis.

“We would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to the amazing group of scouts and cubs who worked incredibly hard on the day. A fantastic effort by all.”
