The Poplars, run by Orders of St John Care Trust, will see its number of dementia beds increased to meet a growing demand for additional specialist care within the local area.

A huge extension will comprise a new 11-bedroom household, which will include additional living, dining and communal areas.

The specialist unit will be designed with person centered care in mind, including interior design that aims to enhance orientation and well being.

OSJCT assistant operations director Caroline Dunagan said: “The Poplars has seen a large increase in dementia-related enquiries over recent years, which led to us identifying a need to support the local community in that area.

“It is so important that people needing care services receive it as near to their own home and community as possible.

“As a result, we’ve pressed ahead with an investment proposal for the home which, once complete, will allow us to provide even more Market Rasen families with high-quality dementia care.”

Planning permission for the extension was granted to OSJCT in March 2015.

The extension work is due to start in April, and is expected to be complete by the
autumn.
