Rasen skate park closed-your ideas wanted!

Market Rasen Town councillors are reminding locals that part of Mill Road playing field's skate park is closed as it has been deemed '˜unsafe'.

Councillors at last week’s town council meeting (March 1) reported that signs put up at the skate park warning of ithe closure had been repeatedly removed.

They also discussed the possibility of replacing the skate park entirely with a different facility.

The council would like locals to get in touch with ideas on how the current skate park should be replaced.

Market Rasen residents are also being encouraged to view any plans at the Annual Town Meeting which will take place from 7pm on Wednesday April 26 in the Committee Room, Festival Hall, Caistor Road.

Following last week’s meeting, the Town Council issued a statement about the Mill Road playing field skate park.

A spokesman for the council said: “Market Rasen Town Council have closed part of the Skate Park at Mill Road Playing Field due to health and safety reasons.

“The Town Council are looking at removing the damaged skate park ramps as soon as possible.

“The Town Council have intentions to replace with new.

“The council are currently meeting with play firms to get ideas on costs for a new Skate Park.

“A meeting will be arranged shortly with West Lindsey District Council to discuss possible funding opportunities.

“The council would be pleased to hear from the community on their thoughts of a new skate park and any ideas.”

Skate park plans and ideas will be available for inspection at the Town Meeting on Wednesday April 26. Everyone is welcome.
