READER LETTER: Misterton Christmas lights switch-on

This year's light switch-on will take place on Friday, December 2. This year there will be a range of stalls and refreshments on Church Meadow from 6pm.

Live music will be provided by the Idle Missedatones; there will be special deals on hot food, provided by Farmers Fish & Chips and Alex’s pie and peas. Hot mulled wine (and non-alcoholic drinks) will be provided by the parish council, and there will be a range of stalls. In the parish church, there will be a Christmas tree festival, including a ‘memory’ tree. Hang a message on the tree - a chance to think about those no longer with us for the festive season.

The Christmas tree festival will run from Friday, December 2 to Saturday, 10.

Businesses, organisations, and residents are invited to dress a Christmas tree in time for the occasion – there’s a £5 fee but the best-dressed tree will win a prize.

For details contact The Misterton Centre tel: 891872. There’s a chance to vote for your favourite trees – just call in, fill in a ballot paper, and post it in the special box. The winner of the ‘people’s choice’ Christmas tree will be announced on Saturday, December 10, at a coffee morning in the church.
