Recycle your Christmas tree

When the time comes to take down the Christmas decorations, recycling your tree could benefit war veterans and their families.

Notts County Council is working in partnership with Veolia Environmental Services to encourage people to recycle their trees to help raise cash for the Royal British Legion.

For every 50 tonnes of Christmas trees sent for recycling, Veolia will donate £100 to the RBL.

Trees which are taken to the newly refurbished household waste recycling centre, on Hallcroft Road in Retford, will be shredded for composting or chipped for use in parks and gardens.

County council chairman Keith Walker said: “The Royal British Legion is an excellent charity and we hope to raise as much money as possible for our veterans and their families.”

“I ask all residents to recycle their tree to help make a real difference.”
