Recycle your old television this Christmas

As the festive adverts start to appear, many people will be eyeing up the latest High Definition digital televisions.

But Veolia Environmental Services, Notts County Council’s waste management contractor, is encouraging Notts residents to take their old, unwanted television sets and any other household electrical or electronic equipment to any of the county’s 14 fourteen Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) to be recycled.

Around 96 per cent of modern television sets can be recycled.

Kevin Parker, regional communications manager for Veolia Environmental Services, says: “We receive thousands of TV sets for recycling each month at the Notts recycling centres and we’re expecting to receive even more during and after the festive period.”

“We’re keen to spread the message that any electrical equipment from large appliances like fridges and freezers to smaller appliances like toasters and hairdryers can be brought to any of the fourteen HWRCs across the county for recycling.”

The winter opening hours for the HWRCs are currently 8am to 4pm.

At the Worksop HWRC, they also accept leftover household paint and gives away any good quality reusable donations to charities and community groups in the county.
