Some 66 per cent of respondents were in favour of the church being classed as a festival church.

The poll was held as a result of a proposed re-organisation by Lincoln Diocese.

Community churches are found in smaller communities, but with sufficient local support and resources to operate as active places of worship. Festival churches are those which cannot or do not wish to offer regular worship. They can, however, be used for festival or celebration events, occasional services, as well as weddings and funerals.

The survey offered three choices – continuing as a community church, operating as a festival church, or asking for more information before making a comment.

For the moment, the church says, there will not be any changes as the request for ‘preference of categorisation’ is part of a process being conducted by the Diocese of Lincoln.

All those contributed to the survey are thanked for their interest.
