Recognised at a passing out parade at Waddington Training Centre, the newly qualified firefighters showcased their new skills and techniques, including rescuing casualties from the drill tower, and were presented with their certificates.

The certificates recognise the completion of Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue’s rigorous training programme on equipment and appliances as well as policies and procedures.

Joining crews across the county to provide fire and rescue cover, Jamie Foulsham will serve at Long Sutton, Cameron Sleight at Holbeach, Connell McGrorey at Skegness and Daniel Stephens at Lincoln North.

Mick Green, deputy chief fire officer at Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, said: “Our comprehensive training course is designed to ensure that our recruits are prepared for the demands of being a modern firefighter and are able to start work at their stations right away.

“The course covers many topics, including: firefighter basic skills, ladder and pump drills, hydraulics, working from heights, extrication techniques at road traffic collisions, occupational first aid, legislation and health and safety.

”Being a retained firefighter is a demanding but highly rewarding job that requires a high level of commitment and personal discipline. I am confident our new firefighters will be a real asset to their respective fire stations and local communities.”
