Retford: Business urged donations of unwanted sports kit

Batting 4 6 has become a collection point for the LV SOS Kit Aid, a charity which strives to distribute unwanted kit across the globe to allow young people of all ages to take part in sport.

Residents across the East Midlands are urged to take any unwanted sports kit along to Batting 4 6, at Carolgate, who will pass it on to LV SOS Kit Aid.

Michelle Shevill, who runs Batting 4 6 with husband Mark, said they are particularly keen to receive football and rugby boots, but all sporting equipment as long as it is in playing order can be donated.

“Our motto is don’t bin it, donate it,” she added.

“It is better going to help others rather than sitting in a landfill site.”

The sports equipment is distributed across the UK and abroad.

Countries currently distributed to include Cuba, Argentina, Rwanda, Peru, Sri Lanka, Tonga,, China, Uganda, Cambodia and Zimbabwe.

Batting 4 6 is a sports shop and cricket coaching centre.

Donations are welcome whenever the business is open at 78 Carolgate, Retford.

It open six days-a-week, 9am-5pm Monday to Saturday with a late night opening until 7.30pm on Thursday.
