Retford: Co-op store completes 26.2 mile bike ride for charity

Staff at North Road Co-operative store in Retford took part in a sponsored cycle recently for East Midlands autism charity NORSACA.

The staff did sponsored 26.2 mile (marathon distance) bike ride. NORSACA is the largest specialist autism charity in the East Midlands, and offers a wide range of services designed to support people affected by autism.

The staff of 18 at the store are planning monthly fund-raising events with the intention of raising £1,000 for the charity.

Staff are still planning further monthly events such as a sponsored row in the store, raffle, car wash and a guess the number of balloons in the car challenge.

Amy Sims, from the Co-op is leading the store fund-raising team. She said “NORSACA does valuable work in our local community for families affected by autism. “

“All the staff in the store are all looking forward to getting involved and we hope our customers will help support us in raising funds for this great charity.”

Melanie Howard, fund generation manager at NORSACA, added, “We’re so pleased that the team at the Co-op have chosen us to support.”

“Their efforts will not only help raise much needed funds but will also help raise awareness of NORSACA and the work we do supporting local people affected by autism.”
