St John Street in Retford, which links Grove Street and Chapelgate has been the scene of people acting in a manner which has caused annoyance, harassment, alarm and distress to residents and visitors of the street and the local area.

A PSPO is made under powers vested in the local authority by Section 59 of the Crime & Policing Act and would last for a period of up to three years. It would seek to reduce the level of ASB in this area and the council has put forward a number of proposals.

On St John Street there are two gates which are currently left open at all times. The consultation asks: ‘Is there a need for the PSPO to be granted and gates to be erected and closed’.

The proposals to be considered are: The order needs to be made and the gates should be closed 24 hours a day, seven days a week; The order needs to be made, however the gates should only be closed between 8pm-8am or; No need for St John Street to be closed and the order should not be made.

Residents can take part in the consultation by completing the online survey below, or by sending a letter to: Queens Buildings, Potter Street, Worksop, Nottinghamshire, S80 2AH or by email to [email protected].

You can read a copy of the draft St John Street PSPO and view a map of the area on the Bassetlaw Council website.

The consultation will close at 5pm on Friday, October 30.
