Martin James, a service manager at Transdek UK, is hoping to raise more than £1,000 for the charity that provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer

Two work colleagues, Harworth brothers Leon and Dean Butler, are also taking part to boost fund raising efforts.

As well as helping with the medical needs of people affected by cancer, Macmillan Cancer Support campaigns for better cancer care and aims to improve the lives of everyone living with cancer in the UK.

“Macmillan was fantastic in providing support and care for our family when we lost my nan, in 1997, and my dad, in 2007, to cancer,” said Martin.

“I haven’t always been the fittest of people, but I’m determined to finish the event so I’m working with a personal trainer and also going to the gym three times a week.
“As well as raising as much money as possible I’m hoping to lose about three stone in weight as well.”

“I’d just like to get around the course on the day and raise as much money as possible for Macmillan in the process.”
