Retford Hospital building scoops landmark award

The development was nominated by Bassetlaw District Council in the East Midlands LABC Awards’ ‘Best Small Commercial Building’ category, and the award was shared with architects Soul Architecture Ltd and builder T.G. Sowerby Developments Ltd.

The hospital’s new common room was a unique development project and had to be considerate to the 184-year-old building’s heritage, its national historical and architectural significance, and the fact that it is a Grade II listed building within a conservation area.

Councillor Jo White, cabinet member for Regeneration at Bassetlaw District Council, said;“Thanks to the hard work, dedication and invention of all the partners involved, Trinity Hospital now has a fantastic multi-use space that can be used by residents on a daily basis and provide an area that can be used by the Brethren of Trinity Hospital for their own events and as a social space. I wish everyone the best of luck for the national awards later this year.”

Steve Lyon, director and project site manager at TG Sowerby Developments, said;“I am immensely pleased with this award, which is a credit to the hard work and craftsmanship which went into the project.”
