Retford: Inquest opens into death of pensioner crushed by a falling tree in freak storms

An inquest has been opened into the death of John White, who died when he was crushed by a tree during freak storms in December.

Mr White, 83, from Retford, was travelling through King’s Park on his mobility scooter on 5th December when part of a tree was brought crashing down on top of him by high winds.

Assistant coroner for Notts, Dr Timothy Connery said a post-mortem confirmed that Mr White died from multiple injuries.

The inquest was adjourned and is provisional set to be completed on 29th May.
