Lucy Hallam, a Year Eight pupil at Ranby House School in Retford, competed against 61 other under-18s from schools across Notts, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Rutland at the regional show jumping qualifiers in Lincolnshire.

Lucy won the 90cm showjumping class outright, which meant that not only did she jump a clear round and win as the Notts representative but was the fastest competitor across all schools.

She also qualified in the one metre show jumping class as the winning individual for the county.

She now goes on to compete in the County Championships to be held in Buckinghamshire, in April.

“We are extremely excited for the championships,” said Deb Hallam, Lucy’s mum.

“It means Lucy will compete against the winning individuals from schools across the country.”

“We are very proud of her.”

“It was a pleasure to share Lucy’s achievement with the rest of the school at our assembly.”

“This is a tremendous achievement for Lucy and we wish her the very best of luck for the Championships.”

Lucy is part of the Ranby House Equestrian Team, which is registered with the National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA).

Individuals, or teams made up of a minimum of three riders, have the opportunity to represent Ranby House at prestigious inter-school competitions throughout the country.

The NSEA is the recognised body for equestrians in schools throughout the UK. Competitions for individuals and teams start at Grass Roots level and build up to National Schools qualifiers and Championships.
