Retford: Model railway society to hold 40th anniversary exhibition

Bassetlaw Railway Society is holding its 40th annual model railway exhibition in the ballroom and Mayor’s Parlour of Retford Town Hall over the weekend of 15th and 16th November.

This year’s exhibition is the usual mix of working model railways, plus trade stands, demonstrations, railway societies and refreshments.

“Without doubt, the most popular layout with the youngsters is our interactive Thomas the Tank Engine layout where potential train crew can try their hand at driving Thomas, Duck, Gordon and Toby plus including a variety of rolling stock including the troublesome trucks,” said Bob Fleming, exhibition manager.

“As well as four model railways owned and operated by members of the society, a further nine working layouts will be on display from as far afield as Goole and Stockport.”

The exhibition is open from 10am to 5pm on the Saturday and 10am to 4.30pm on the Sunday.

Entry is £4 for adults, £2.50 for children aged five to 16 years-old years (under-fives are free), while a family ticket for two adults and two children is £10.
