Retford: More than £3,000 raised for Age UK thanks to Ye Old Bell Hotel

A cheque for a staggering £3,610.69 was presented to Age UK by Ye Olde Bell Hotel and Restaurant in Barnby Moor, near Retford, following their recent charity fun day on Sunday June 28.

There was also the presentation of a painting by artist Chris Slater of a helter skelter at the event, which will take pride of place in the hotel foyer.

Julie Benson, who works for Age UK Rotherham, said: “Ye Olde Bell Charity Fun Day proved a fabulous day for everyone, with all the fun of a vintage fair.

We are amazed by the amount raised of £3,610.69 which will support our ‘Befrienders’ scheme of 80+ volunteers.

I would like to thank everyone who came along and contributed wholeheartedly to the day including those local businesses who donated fabulous prizes for the charity auction, raffle and tombola.”

The charity fun day attracted around 500 visitors who were treated to a host of traditional games, activities and attractions, all in aid of Age UK Rotherham.

The event was officially opened by Len Poulson, grandfather of One Direction star Louis Tomlinson.
