Retford: Rotarians continue their support for HOPE

The Rotarians of Retford have once again helped Bassetlaw charity HOPE support homeless people through their Percy Laws fund.

Alan Diggles, the charity’s chief executive, said “The Rotarians of Retford, through their Percy Laws fund, have consistently supported of homeless people and their help is crucial in giving those who are rebuilding their lives, a lifeline to independence.

“This collaboration between the Rotary Club of Retford and HOPE recognises clients who achieve change in their lives, to help them resettle back into the community when they move out of crisis.

“The award is designed to provide practical help and assistance to ensure the best chance of future success.”

As well as presenting three service users with awards, Retford Rotary Club has helped create an emergency fund’, to allow HOPE to provide essentials for clients who arrive without anything.

Mr Diggles continued: “This allows us to provide hygiene essentials, toiletries and medication, or help people travel to hospital appointments or attend a family funeral outside of the district.

“It will also help us offer sleeping bags and small tents for those we cannot accommodate when we have no beds available.”
