Retford: Volunteers wanted to help with the great Chesterfield Canal spring clean
The Chesterfield Canal Trust is organising a spring clean of the Retford stretch of the canal on Saturday, 28th March and wants local volunteers to come along and get involved.
Starting from the Hop Pole pub on Welham Road at 10.30am, the cleaning team will move along the towpath, all the way to West Retford Lock near Morrison’s, picking up litter from the banks,.
Meanwhile a boat will sail alongside them, picking larger items out of the water, including any metal pieces found by people putting magnets into the water to ensure any old bicycles or shopping trollies are not missed.
All volunteers are welcome, please wear gloves and suitable clothing and footwear.
